Based on the best selling series "Dear Dumb Diary" by Jim Benton, “Dear Dumb Diary” is a musical television film that follows Jamie Kelly, as she navigates Mackeral Middle School with the help of her best friend Isabella, her nemesis Angeline and the boy of her dreams, Hudson. It stars Emily Alyn Lind as Jamie, a seventh-grader who documents her experiences in her diary, as well as Mary-Charles Jones as Isabella, and Sterling Griffith as popular girl Angeline, first airing on the Hallmark Channel in September 6, 2013. The film is directed by Kristin Hanggi, with the teleplay by Jim Benton and Kristin Hanggi.

Three of the original songs, "Dear Future Jamie," "My Awesomeness is Awesome," and "Meatloaf Mystery," were written by Dan Mackenzie. Other songs were written by Steven Argila and Seth Freeman.
